Over 1,700 promoted to mark Navy anniversary

Over 1,700 naval personnel have been promoted to mark the 71st anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Accordingly, 84 officers and 1,684 other ranks were given promotions to their respective next higher ranks with the recommendation of Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

Celebratory events are being conducted in all Naval Commands, giving pride and place to naval customs and religious rituals, to mark the occasion.

Also, capital ships of the Sri Lanka Navy will lay at anchor off the Galle Face Green and the ships will be there both today and tomorrow, allowing the public to catch a glimpse of its naval power.
