Gold for SL at Asian Youth Para Games

Sri Lankan swimmer Galina Basnayake has won gold in the women’s 400 m freestyle event at the Asian Youth Para Games in Bahrain.

The 16-year-old finished with her personal best of five minutes and 25.24 seconds.

Swimmers from Japan and Hong Kong won the silver and the bronze respectively.

Jason Jayawardena has won silver in the men’s shot-put event by clearing a distance of 6.64 metres in his first attempt.

Naveed Raheem clinched the bronze in the men’s 400m freestyle event with his personal best of five minutes and 20.59 seconds.

Janani Wickramasinghe, with a timing of 29.36 seconds, won bronze in the women’s 200 metres event.
