Second gold for Galina Basnayake at Asian Youth Para Games

 

Sri Lankan swimmer Galina Basnayake has clinched a second gold as well as a silver to help boost the country’s medals tally to eight at the Asian Youth Para Games in Bahrain.

She yesterday (05) won the women’s 100 m freestyle event with a timing of one minute and 12.09 seconds.

Later, she was placed second in the 100 m butterfly event, finishing with a time of one minute and 32.86 seconds.

Galina won the 400 m freestyle gold on the opening day of the Games.

Sri Lankan Mohamed Safran won silver in the men’s T46 100 m event, clocking 13.39 seconds.

Janani Wickramasinghe added a second bronze to her tally by being placed third in the T47 100 m event.

Jason Jayawardena won silver in the shot put event, while Naveed Raheem won a bronze in the men’s 400 m freestyle.
