LPL 2021: Jaffna wins by 14 runs under D/L method

Jaffna Kings beat Kandy Warriors by 14 runs under the D/L method in a rain-reduced game of the Lanka Premier League 2021 in Colombo last night (08).

Sent into bat first, JK blasted 181 for six against in the 14-overs-a-side encounter.

Both Avishka Fernando and skipper Thisara Perera made explosive half centuries.

Fernando’s 23-ball 53 included seven sixes.

Perera too, made 53 off just 21 deliveries with six sixes and two fours.

In bowling for KW, Shiraz Ahmed claimed three for 22.

Tlakaratne Sampath bowled a solitary over and went for 31 runs, the costliest so far in the tournament.

Fernando hit five consecutive sixes off him.

Rowman Powell too, was costly giving away 52 runs off three overs.

Replying, KW managed only 166 for five in their allotted overs.

Powell made 61 off just 19 deliveries, inclusive of seven sixes and two fours.

Charith Asalanka and Kenner Lewis scored 42 and 41 respectively.

In bowling for JK, Jayden Seales captured two for 40.
