Jacqueline Fernandez to appear before ED on 08 Dec.

A day after she was stopped from flying abroad, India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Sri Lanka born actress Jacqueline Fernandez to appear before it for questioning in a money laundering investigation against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and others.

The 36-year-old has been asked to depose before the agency in New Delhi on 08 December, answer questions and get her statement recorded.

Fernandez has been questioned by the ED in this case at least twice and the agency suspects she is a “beneficiary of the proceeds of crime” allegedly generated by Chandrashekhar.

Her spokesperson had earlier said she was testifying before the agency as a witness.

“Jacqueline Fernandez is being called to testify as a witness by the ED. She has duly recorded her statements and in future will also be completely cooperating with the agency in the investigations.

“Jacqueline also categorically denies alleged slanderous statements made about relationship with the involved couple,” the spokesperson said in a statement in October.

Fernandez was stopped by the immigration authorities at the Mumbai airport on Sunday, acting on a Look Out Circular issued by the ED against her.

Agency sleuths later reached the airport and disallowed her travel, asking her to remain in the country as she may be required to join the probe.

She was supposed to take a flight to Muscat, Oman.

The Sri Lankan-origin actor has been questioned by the ED in multiple sessions in connection with the over Rs 200 crore money laundering case being probed against Chandrashekhar and his actress wife Leena Maria Paul.
