Yohani de Silva joins to boost Sri Lanka tourism
Yohani’s concert planned at Dubai world Expo
Colombo: The Ministry of Tourism is preparing to use Sri
Lanka’s international sensation singer Yohani de Silva as a brand ambassador to
promote Sri Lanka’s tourism industry in line with the 2020 Expo Dubai Exhibition.
Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga has informed the
Cabinet that a cultural variety show with Yohani de Silva is planned as part of
the National Day of Sri Lanka feature at the Global Festival on January 3, 2022
Apart from that, the Minister has informed the Cabinet that
there are plans to release a music video that she writes and sings on the
journey highlighting the beauty of Sri Lanka.
The Ministry of Tourism believes that Yohani could be used
for brand promotion as she is attracted to social media in India and the Middle
East, which are considered to be the main markets for Sri Lanka’s tourism
industry.
A budget of Rs. 150 million has been approved by the Cabinet
for the Dubai Expo and the amount expected to be spent on Yohani’s concert is
Rs. 5.5 million.
