Luxury car and truck completely destroyed by a fire after collision

A luxury car had collided with a parked truck transporting tens of millions of rupees worth outdoor transmission goods setting both vehicles on fire and destroying them completely, the police said.

The driver and the assistant of the truck were injured and admitted to a private hospital in Narahenpita.

According to the police the driver of the car was unable to control his speed and collided with the truck parked near the office of local media TV Derana in the Delkanada area in Nugegoda at around 11.30 last night.

A fire had broken out immediately after the collision, resulting in both the truck and the car being completely destroyed.

The fire has been doused by three fire engines from the Colombo Fire Brigade.

The accident had taken place while a consignment of audio-visual equipment was being unloaded at a studio complex owned by the private TV channel, police said.
