The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is scheduled to commence on October 17 with the qualifiers stage followed by the Super 12 stage starting on October 23 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The International Cricket Council has made an amendment for the knockout stages to make matches flexible in case the game does not go ahead due to unfavourable circumstances.

In case the match gets interrupted by rains, it is usually decided by the Duckworth-Lewis method in most instances.

The ICC has decided to use the Decision Review System (DRS) for the first time in the history of the Men's T20 World Cup this year.

According to an official statement of the ICC, in every innings, both the teams will get two chances of review under DRS.

Usually, in T20 matches, a team gets only one review in an innings, but keeping in mind the absence of experienced umpires in many matches during the Covid-pandemic, the ICC in June decided to increase one review in each format of cricket.

Changes were also made in the rule of minimum overs.

Accordingly, in the semi-finals and final, each team will be required to bat at least ten overs to get the result of the match with Duckworth-Lewis, while the standard five-over rule will remain for the other matches.

Moreover, there will be a drinks break of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, similar to IPL’s strategic timeout, which will take place during each and every match during the halfway mark of each inning.
