The 48th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)- update

The 48th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is scheduled to convene today (14) to discuss the report of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on Sri Lanka.

She presented a report on the human rights progress of the  member countries. The High Commissioner pointed out that Sri Lanka is deeply concerned about the declaration of a new state of emergency to ensure food security and price control. She said that peaceful protests and celebrations were being held in Sri Lanka by the state and forcible detention was being carried out in quarantine centers.
