Rainfall starts in parts of North Coastal AP -;Set for a “zero casualty” target in the vulnerable districts - Cyclone Gulab updates

                                     




The Cyclonic Storm "Gulab" over northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal moved nearly westwards with a speed of 17 kmph in last 6 hours and lays centered over northwest about 180 km East-Southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha) and 240 km east-northeast of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). It is likely to move nearly westwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur as a Cyclonic Storm with maximum sustained wind 75-85 kmph gusting to 95 kmph, around midnight of September 26, 2021. The landfall process will commence from late evening on Sunday

Rainfall started in many parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh region on Sunday in the wake of cyclone Gulab, which is likely to make landfall between Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam around midnight of Sunday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday upgraded its rainfall warning to red alert from orange for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh ahead of Cyclone 'Gulab.' According to IMD, the landfall will start from today evening

 According to the red alert, hours before cyclone ‘Gulab' makes landfall in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday set a “zero casualty” target in the vulnerable districts of the state, where rainfall activity started in the southern and coastal regions under the influence of the weather system. The cyclone, the second to hit the state in four months after ‘Yaas' wreaked havoc in May, is likely to make landfall between Gopalpur and Kalingapatanam in Andhra Pradesh around midnight, the India Meteorological Department said
