PM instructs Central Bank governor to minimize import restrictions to provide relief

Colombo: Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today (29th September) instructed the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal to minimize current import restrictions as much as possible on non‐essential goods and equipment to provide relief, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a release.

 The Prime Minister issued the directive in view of the difficulties faced by businessmen and the public due to the current existing restrictions on imports of non-essential goods and equipment.

 Accordingly, the Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal is expected to present suitable suggestions in this regard shortly.
