Central Bank releases US$ 50 million to clear essential food items held at Colombo Port

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has released US $ 50 million to two state banks to clear containers of essential food items held at the Port of Colombo.

The money will be disbursed to importers through two state banks.

The Governor of the Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal further stated that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka is ready to provide more funds if required for the release of essential goods stuck at the Port of Colombo.
