Nadungamuwa Raja, the tallest elephant in Sri Lanka has passed
away.
Nadungamuwa Vijaya Raja popularly known as Nadungamuwa Raja
is an Indian tusker born c. 1953 in Mysore, he is the current main casket
bearer of the procession of Esala held in Kandy Sri Lanka.
The 68-year-old tusker Nadungamuwa Raja has for many years
carried the sacred tooth relic during the annual Kandy Esala perahera.
