Rs 10 for empty bottle: Sathosa comes up with new strategy
Lanka Sathosa has introduced a new water bottle to the
market under the patronage of Trade minister Bandula Gunawardena.
“We are selling this bottle of drinking water for Rs. 35
through Lanka Sathosa, the largest chain of retail outlets in the country.
Lanka Sathosa also plans to reimburse Rs. 10 if an empty bottle is returned” he
said addressing a gathering.
The minister also went on to say that this initiative will
enable the entire country to have a cheaper bottle of drinking water and
contribute to reducing the amount of plastic added to the environment.
“By this, we do not intend to challenge other drinking water
bottle manufacturing companies. But if they also use this bottle retrieval
method, it will become an eco-friendly business” he said.
