SL in clean sweep of Test series to claim Sobers-Tissera Trophy
Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 164 runs in the second and final Test in Galle for a clean sweep of the series to claim the Sobers-Tissera Trophy.
Chasing an unlikely 297 for victory, WI were bowled out for
132 moments before tea on the final day.
Spinners Ramesh Mendis and Lasith Embuldeniya shared five
wickets each as wickets tumbled at regular intervals.
Only Jermaine Blackwood (36) and Nkumah Bonner (44) made any
sizeable contributions for the touring team’s total.
Sri Lanka declared their second innings at 345 for nine,
with Dhananjaya de Silva remaining unbeaten on 153.
They made 204 batting a first time and the WI managed a slim
lead of 49 runs which ultimately made no impact on the outcome of the game.
