Power cut today as well : Details released

Power disruptions will continue in several parts of the country today as well due to a breakdown at the Norochcholai power plant, Ceylon Electricity Board said.

“We can expect 30 minutes power cuts after 6 pm in some parts of the country today as well depending on the electricity demand we get today” CEB spokesman told NewsWire.

Minister of Power Gamini Lokuge on Thursday gave an assurance that there will be no further power cuts as Norochcholai power plant is fully restored.

“Yes it was fully functional on Friday but We had a new issue yesterday, it might take a day or two to fix this” A spokesman from Minister Gamini Lokuge’s office said.

“Several areas may experience a 30 minute power cut between 6 PM – 9:30 PM on Sunday” Ministry of Power said in an official statement.
