No powercuts from today: CEB head

No power cuts will be experienced from today as the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant (NCPP) is fully functional now, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) General Manager M.R. Ranatunge said.

He told the Daily Mirror that the power plant is supplying 300 MW of operations at full capacity. Therefore, there is no need to have any power cuts other than sudden breakdowns, he said.

The nationwide scheduled power cuts were experienced in the early days in several areas between 6.00 pm and 9.30 p.m.
