Colombo university incident : Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero responds

 

The Chancellor of the University of Colombo Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero says he will fulfill his responsibilities despite any challenges or opposition thrown against him with regard to his appointment.

He further said he has no intention to step down from his designation and responsibilities.

Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero made the observation after several students had refused to acknowledge him as the Chancellor of the University of Colombo during the graduation ceremony which was held last Saturday

Commenting on the event, Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero said he has only sympathy towards the students and will not hold a grudge against their actions.

He pointed out that the 15 students who had refused to accept the graduation certificate from him are known to have been involved in wrongdoings at the university.

Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero said, however, all students of the Medical Faculty had acknowledged him and had received their graduation certificates from him.
