Very unique Test record involving four SL batters
Sri Lanka made a very unique record today in the 1st Test
match against West Indies currently being played at the Galle International
Cricket Stadium.
Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne continued his brilliant form and
paired with Pathum Nissanka for a opening stand of 139 runs, to start of
proceeding against the Windies in the 2 match Test series.
With this century opening stand, Sri Lanka became the first
team with completely different opening pairs sharing Test century partnerships
at the same ground in same year.
Earlier in the year, Kusal Perera and Lahiru Thirimanne
combined for a 101 run opening partnership at Galle in the 1st Test against
England.
Sri Lankan openers have now scored 7 hundred runs
partnerships since 2018 which is the highest for any country.
Four of those century partnerships have come in last five
innings.
