The earthquake was upgraded to 5.5, centered in the sea near Golden Bay
A mild earthquake, felt by thousands, hit the country at
4.16pm on Sunday afternoon.
Originally, the quake was reported by GeoNet, whose
epicenter was in the sea 70 kilometers northeast of Collingwood at the top of
the South Island, with a magnitude of 5.3 at a depth of 190 kilometers.
Then she upgraded it to 5.5 degrees.
Online reports show that it has been felt as far north as
Wellington and Christchurch.
