The union action by teachers and principals over their
salary anomalies has conditionally been suspended until 20 January 2022,
according to secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin.
He says the decision has been taken in view of the promised
budgetary allocation of an additional Rs. 30 billion to address the issue.
Stalin told a meeting today (14) of teacher TUs the
government should issue the circular before January to resolve their salary
anomalies.
Teachers will still continue to stay away from organizing
functions to be attended by politicians, filling out forms and other work
outside their teaching responsibilities, he added.
