School holidays, exam dates announced

Christmas holidays for all government and government-approved private schools this year has been restricted to four days.

The Education Ministry announces the schools be closed from 23 to 26 December.

Their reopening will be on 27 December.

Other grades, excepting primary grades will be closed for holding the GCE advanced level examination from 03 February 2022 to 07 March 2022.

April holidays for Sinhala and Tamil schools will be from 09 to 17 April 2022, while for Muslim schools it will be from 02 April to 03 May.

The Education Ministry also says the Grade Five Scholarship examination will be held on 22 January 2022.

The GCE A/L examination will take place from 07 February to 05 March 2022, followed by the GCE O/L examination from 23 May to 01 June 2022.
