Jaffna schools closed due to extreme weather

Due to torrential rains and floods experienced in the Jaffna District, the Jaffna Government Agent today decided to close all government schools in the district. The decision was taken following discussion between the Northern Province Governor's Office, officers of the Northern Province Education Department, District Secretary Office, and Disaster Management Office Authorities.

During the last 24 hours the Jaffna District had received rainfall more than 200mm therefore, school children have been affected by floods.
