Ex-ambassador to Korea donates cancer treatment equipment
Former Sri Lankan ambassador to Korea, Dr A Saj. U. Mendis
symbolically donated a set of cancer detection and treatment equipment to Army
commander General Shavendra Silva for distribution among most wanted hospitals.
The visiting diplomat was hosted at the Commander’s
Secretariat, where Gen. Silva, after a
warm welcome, thanked him for his thoughtfulness and the kind initiative for
donation of such medical accessories for the best interests of Sri Lankan
Cancer patients.
“Such donations that could help raise medical standards and
bring solace to less privileged strata of our society showcase the common
concerns and mutual relations that the two nations have shared over the years.
This generosity is acknowledged and would serve as a renewed and sound
diplomatic endeavour as both nations maintain sound and healthy relations,” he
said.
He also thanked the International Interchange Development
Association of the Republic of Korea for the generosity extended towards the
people of Sri Lanka.
Towards the end of the interaction, General Shavendra Silva
awarded a memento to Dr. Mendis and wished him good luck with his future
endeavours.
