Retirement age of public sector medical officers extended

The age limit for the compulsory retirement of medical officers of all grades in the public service has been extended. Accordingly, Government registered medical officers are now able to retire at the age of 63. A Gazette Extraordinary in this regard was published yesterday (08) by the Minister of Public Services, Provincial Councils, and Local Government Janaka Bandara Tennakoon. The amendment will be treated as effective from 02 August 2021, the gazette notification read.
