Red Alert -Winds over deep and shallow sea areas to enhance
The red alert notice issued yesterday (14) at 03.30 p.m. 14
October 2021 for next 36 hours for “Strong Winds and Rough seas Advisory” by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of
the Department of Meteorology for the
deep and shallow sea area off west, south-west and south of Sri Lanka.
According to the notice, wind speed can be increased up to
(60-65) kmph at times in the deep and shallow sea area off west, south-west and
south of Sri Lanka.
These sea areas will be rough or very rough at times. These
sea areas may experience surges due to the effect of swell waves, having
(2.5-3.0) m height.
Naval and fishing communities are advised to be vigilant in
this regards.
