President agrees to add Tamil representation
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has agreed to appoint Tamil
representatives to the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on ‘One Country, One Law’
chaired by Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera.
It was decided yesterday (28) evening at a meeting held at
Temple Trees chaired by the President with
the participation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and other the
party leaders in the Government.
The President appointed a 13-member PTF in which there were
only Sinhala and Muslim representatives.
Deputy Chairman of Ceylon Workers Congress Senthil Thondaman
said the absence of Tamil representatives in the PTF has been criticised by
certain parties, so he, along with Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda and
several others had brought it to the notice of the President and the latter had
agreed to it.
