Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera removed from Party

 

Colombo: The National Organizer of the Ape Jana Bala Party (Our Power of People Party) Dr. Susantha Kodituwakku states that the Political Bureau and the Central Committee of the party have decided to expel Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero from the party.

It is said that the party secretary has informed the Election Commission about the decision.

The decision was taken after the party’s disciplinary committee found Rathana Thera guilty of four charges and recommended his expulsion from the party.

Chairman of the Election Commission Senior Counsel Nimal Punchihewa stated that this was informed to the Commission yesterday (15). Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero was sworn in as a National List Member of Parliament on January 5.

He was sworn in as a Member of Parliament for the fourth time and was allotted a front row seat for members of the Opposition.
