India withdraws tit-for-tat Covid advisory for UK travelers

NEW DELHI: The authorities has reinstated its earlier pointers by withdrawing a journey advisory issued on October 1 that made it obligatory for British nationals arriving in India to bear a compulsory 10-day quarantine even when they’re totally vaccinated.
India had come out with the advisory as UK, even after
recognising Covishield vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India,
retained the 10-day quarantine interval for totally vaccinated travellers from
India.
The advisory has been withdrawn after the British
authorities ordered discontinuation of obligatory testing and quarantine norms
for these vaccinated with Covishield and travelling from India.
The well being ministry stated, “Based on the evolving
scenario, it has been decided that the revised guidelines stand withdrawn and
the earlier guidelines on international arrival issued on February 17 shall be
applicable to all travellers arriving in India from the UK.”
