Charges served on 24 suspects of Easter Sunday attacks, trial to begin on Nov 23

The case is being heard before a special three-judge bench comprising justices Damith Thotawatte (Chairman) Amal Ranaraja and Navaratne Marasinghe.The three-judge bench appointed last month by the Chief Justice to hear the case ordered the trial to begin on November 23, 2021.Police had previously filed 23,270 charges against 25 suspects in the case including Naufer Maulavi, Sajid Mailavi, Mohamed Milhan, Sadiq Abdullah, Aadam Lebbe, Mohamed Sanasdeen and Mohamed Rizvan. Oct 04, Colombo: The Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar today indicted 24 of the 25 defendants including Naufar Moulavi who are accused of carrying out suicide attacks on Easter Sunday in April 2019, killing more than 300 people and injuring about 500 others.The 15th accused was not produced in court today as he was hospitalized. The other 24 accused were produced before the court today. 

The charges filed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act include conspiring to murder, aiding and abetting, collecting arms and ammunition, and attempted murder.
