Azath Salley further remanded
The Colombo High Court today (25) indicted former Governor
of the Western Province and leader of the National Unity Front, Azath Salley
over a charge of creating communal disharmony.
HC judge Amal Ranaraja ordered Salley be further remanded until 02 November.
Salley was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department
in March this year, for uttering extremist remarks during a media briefing, in
an attempt to spew disharmony amongst the communities.
He had been detained by the CID for five months, after which
the court remanded him.
