No quarantine required for fully-vaccinated Lankans returning from abroad

Fully-vaccinated Sri Lankan citizens returning from abroad no longer needed to stay at hotels for PCR testing if they test negative at the BIA or Mattala airports, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.

“Fully-vaccinated Sri Lankans who are returning are not required to stay in hotels to get their PCR tests from next week. the Ministry of Health will conduct a PCR test soon after they land at the airport and the travellers will be released it they are not infected,” the Minister told the media

Rambukwella said that the Aviation Ministry had agreed to provide logistical support at the airport and the Health Ministry officials will do the PCR testing on the inbound travelers.

“Within 4 to 6 hours after their arrival, the entire process would be completed and thereafter the travellers will be free to leave if they test negative.

“The cost of these have been borne by travellers and there will be no requirement for them to stay in hotels,” the minister added
