Ambassador of Sri Lanka to
Turkey M.R. Hassen, during a round table information sharing meeting with the
members of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, invited the Bursa based
business community to explore a wide range of quality Sri Lankans products and
look for investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka.
Ambassador had a constructive
discussion with Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors Ismail Kus and the
Assembly members & board of directors of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce
& Industry to enhance trade, investment & tourism between Bursa &
Sri Lanka on 24 September 2021.
Prominent business personalities
and representatives of companies currently engaged in business activities with
Sri Lanka were present at the occasion and shown interest in Sri Lankan spices,
Ceylon Tea and solid tyres and other rubber related products. They expressed
their desire to visit Sri Lanka once Sri Lanka fully opens for foreigners
without quarantine restrictions.
Region of Bursa is the second
largest business city of Turkey with huge manufacturing sector and recorded
21.3 million USD worth total trade in year 2020. In terms of population Bursa
currently ranks fourth with 3.1 million population. Bursa Chamber of Commerce
and Industry comprised of 46,000 memberships and established in 1889. Textile,
automotive manufacturing, food processing, fresh fruits, nuts and dry fruits
and tourism are the major sectors contribute to its economy.

of the Embassy Yoshitha Jayasuriya, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to Bursa Ahmet
Yildiz, Vice President of the Assembly Murat Bayizit, Deputy President of the
Assembly Metin Senyurt, Member of the Board of Directors. Yuksel Tasdemir
attended at the meeting.
